Academic Exchange between The University of Danang - University of Science and Education and Chonnam National University (South Korea) 🌏

✨ As part of the research collaboration in the ultra-wide-area allied medical AI project between the Faculty of Information Technology, The University of Danang - University of Science and Education, and the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Chonnam National University, South Korea, a direct cooperation agreement was signed between Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, lecturer at the Faculty of Information Technology, and Professor Yang Hyung-Jeong, Dean of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Director of the ITRC Center at Chonnam National University.

On January 7, 2025, the Faculty of Information Technology at The University of Danang - University of Science and Education hosted an academic exchange meeting with a delegation of exchange students from the Department of Artificial Intelligence at Chonnam National University. The welcoming and exchange session was co-chaired by Dr. Pham Anh Phuong, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, and Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, alongside faculty members and students researching AI at the Faculty of Information Technology.
📚 During the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, representing the Vietnamese research partner, introduced Chonnam National University, one of South Korea's top universities. The university has been selected by the South Korean government as the institution for its ICT Research Center (ITRC), led by Professor Yang Hyung-Jeong. Through this designation, the ultra-wide-area allied medical AI Research Center will receive total project funding of 7.5 billion won over 8 years to enhance national competitiveness in the promising ICT field and to nurture creative ICT talents at the master's and doctoral levels.
Additionally, Chonnam National University has been selected for the AI Talent Development Project, a strategic initiative sponsored by South Korea's Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, with a budget of 6 billion won over four years. This project focuses on developing an interdisciplinary AI research ecosystem, particularly in healthcare and industrial sectors. Exchange students from Chonnam National University, under Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh’s guidance, carried out their research exchange from January 2 to January 8 at the Department of Computer Science, presenting their research on “Identifying the AI research ecosystem and key areas to promote industrial cooperation with South Korea.”

💡 In addition to academic presentations from the exchange student delegation, Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh also introduced future collaboration plans. Specifically, faculty and student exchange programs will be implemented, along with opportunities for master's and doctoral studies at Chonnam National University, with full scholarships available through AI research projects.
🎓 The reception and guidance session for exchange students concluded successfully, opening up many promising collaboration opportunities in the field of artificial intelligence. This event not only serves as an important stepping stone to promote interdisciplinary research but also contributes to enhancing the international reputation of the Faculty of Information Technology and The University of Danang - University of Science and Education in science and technology.
