Meeting with Prof. Michael Tobar, The University of Western Australia

In order to strengthen international cooperation and enhance the training quality, on the morning of July 15, 2022, the University of Danang - University of Science and Education (UD-UED) had a meeting with Prof. Michael Tobar, the University of Western Australia (UWA).
The participants from UD-UED included the representative of Department of Science and International Cooperation, Board of Deans of Faculty of Physics, lecturers and more than 40 students of Faculty of Physics.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Faculty of Physics extended a warm welcome to Prof. Michael Tobar.
The representative of the Faculty of Physics made an introduction on Da Nang city and the University of Danang - University of Science and Education with the emphasis that UD-UED is one of the key teacher education institutions nationwide and always attaches importance to cooperative relationships with domestic and foreign partners.
During the meeting, Prof. Michael Tobar presented and discussed groundbreaking quantum technology, timekeeping, sapphire watches and the search for elusive dark matter particles. Prof. Michael Tobar also mentioned the importance of time, his cutting-edge research related to time measurement to improve international watch technology as well as research in the laboratory to test the basic rules of physics.
The students of the Faculty of Physics exchanged to have a better understanding of basic physics issues. In addition, they also knew more opportunities to receive scholarships, opportunities to work and research with Prof. Michael Tobar at the University of Western Australia, Australia.
“Prof. Michael Tobar received the Ph.D. degree in physics from the University of Western Australia (UWA), Perth, W.A., Australia, in 1994. He is currently a Professor of Physics with the Department of Physics at the University of Western Australia and leads the QDM Lab Quantum Technologies and Dark Matter Research Group at UWA. His research group is part of two nation-wide Australian Research Council (ARC) Centres of Excellence; the ARC Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems (EQUS) funded from 2018-24; and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Dark Matter Particle Physics (CDM) funded from 2020-27. His research interests encompass the broad discipline of frequency metrology, precision and quantum measurements and low temperature, condensed matter and quantum physics.”
