History

In December 1975, The Provincial People's Committee of Quang Nam-Danang recognized the importance of building a new education and decided to establish the Quang Nam-Danang High School of Education. This was the first teacher training institution in Da Nang city and also the precursor of the University of Danang - University of Science and Education  (UD-UEd).

After the formation of Quang Nam-Danang High School of Education, on November 3, 1976, Quang Nam-Danang College of Education was established. This center played an especially important role among the predecessor institutions of UD-UEd. In September 1990, the Quang Nam-Da Nang People's Committee decided to merge the Quang Nam-Da Nang High School of Education with the Quang Nam - Danang College of Education.

On April 4, 1994, the University of Danang - University of Science and Education was established, under the Decree 32 / CP by the Vietnamese Government reorganizing units of the Quang Nam-Danang College of Education, Danang University of Education for Foreign Languages, Core Studies Department of Danang University of Technology and Cultural Studies Department of Nguyen Van Troi Technical School.

Since this time, as a member of the University of Da Nang, UEd has had functions of training and developing teachers at all levels, providing undergraduate and graduate training, and teaching basic sciences to the other member institutions of the University of Da Nang. At the same time, it has also been a center for science, education and technology research that serves the socio-economic development of provinces and cities in  Central Vietnam.

Over 40 years of the development, and more than 20 years as a member of the University of Danang, UEd has trained hundreds of masters and doctors, more than 20.000 bachelors, more than 14.000 pedagogic college graduates, about 18.000 teachers at all levels, and nearly 5.000 educational administrators. This was the first university in Vietnam reaching the standard of training quality in 04/2016, achieving the Third Class of Labor Medal (1985), the Second Class of Labor Medal (2002), the First Class of Labor Medal (2016) and many other certificates of merit from the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam and the People’s Committee of Da Nang city. For these reasons, UD-UEd has become one of the most prestigious universities in the Central Region, the Highlands and in the whole country.
