International Conference on Promoting Food Safety Awareness in High School Education in Viet Nam
In order to provide knowledge and raise awareness of food safety issues as well as enhance skills in teaching food safety in the new general education program, Faculty of Biology and Environmental Science, The University of Danang - University of Science and Education (UD-UED) in collaboration with the Da Nang Union of the Science and Technology Associations , Mekong Institute organized the international conference: “Promoting Food Safety Awareness in High School Education in Viet Nam” on May 18, 2023.
At the conference, there was the participation of Dr. Nguyen Quy Tuan – Head of Department of Science and International Cooperation; Ms. Huynh Thi Thuy Hanh - in charge of PROSAFE, Agricultural Development and Commercialization Department(ADC), Mekong Institute (MI); the Dean, lecturers of the Faculty of Biology -Environmental Science One School, and the presence of more than 40 teachers from 30 high schools and junior high schools in Da Nang and Quang Nam.
The conference contents included: scientific basis of food hygiene and safety; causes of food poisoning; harms of food unsafety; Measures to prevent food poisoning; Methods of implementing the project on the investigation into the current status of food safety and hygiene; project-based learning to assess the current status of food hygiene and safety; experiments to assess the current status of food hygiene and safety in the locality.
The conference took place seriously and effectively. The contents were practical, relevant to reality and provided sufficient knowledge, raising awareness of food hygiene and safety issues.
