International students taking the Vietnamese Language course at UD-UED enjoy the local language and culture experience day

On June 23, 2023 the University of Danang - University of Science and Education (UD-UED) organized the experience day at historical and cultural places of Da Nang and Quang Nam for international students from different countries taking the Vietnamese Langugage Course at the campus. The activity has left interesting and meaningful impressions on them.
The local language and culture experience day is an activity in the Vietnamese language program for foreigners at UD-UED, in order to enable the students to practice Vietnamese language skills and understand more about the culture, the country, the people of Vietnam. This activity is for international students from different countries such as Belgium, Japan, Nigeria, the USA, China, Korea, Australia, Russia ...
The international students visited and experienced at Marble Mountains (Da Nang City), Thanh Ha pottery village and the My Son Sanctuary (Quang Nam province).
At each place, the international students were excited to learn about the history and culture of the locality. In particular, some of them could not hide their surprise and excitement when they were able to listen to the explanations in Vietnamese about the history and cultural values of the Marble Mountains and the My Son Sanctuary and make products at Thanh Ha pottery village.

Cui Chengwu, Chinese student shared: “I have learned a lot about these interesting places from the lecturers in the Vietnamese class, but when I come directly to see and experience in reality, I like them so much. Especially, talking to local people in Vietnamese helps us to understand more about the Vietnamese culture.”
Not only visiting the places and being given the explainations by the guides, the students also have the opportunity to directly experience some stages of making a ceramic product in Thanh Ha Pottery village. The trip also created an opportunity for them to experience some of the unique features of Vietnamese culture such as Cham show, temples and Cham culture...

At the places, the students all practiced the Vietnamese language through communication with friends, local people and guides, helping them to better understand the way Vietnamese people speak. They also enjoyed some delicious and traditional local dishes such as Quang noodles, Cao Lau... When asked about their impressions of this trip, a Korean student, Lee Seungjae said “The trip gave me opportunities to talk to many Vietnamese people. Thereby, I understand more about the culture, customs and way Vietnamese people talk to one another. This also enables me to know more about the culture and beautiful places of Vietnam, making me love this country more.”

MA. Pham Thi Thu Huong - Lecturer accompanying the students in this field trip shared: “The international students were all very excited and enjoyed the trip. They listened attentively to the guide's introduction in Vietnamese, actively participated in the experience of making ceramic products, ordered their own dishes and showed a love for Quang noodles and Cao Lau.… Many of them were also active to ask the guides and lecturer questions. I believe that with the interesting and useful field trip, they will feel more attached to the gentle and friendly Vietnamese land and people as well as will love Vietnamese more and more”.
