On April 5, the Women's Union of Lien Chieu district, Da Nang city organized the connection program on the "Second Mother" and return to the source in 2024. Accordingly, The University of Danang - University of Science and Education (UD-UED) had 20 more Lao students sponsored through the "Second Mother" model.
The "Second Mother" model has been implemented by Lien Chieu district Women's Union since 2019 with the desire to care for and support Lao students studying in Da Nang, helping them live in the love of their Vietnamese families. This model also contributes to tightening the friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
In 2024, the model continues to be replicated by the Women's Union of Lien Chieu district and 11 Women's Union members accepted to be godmothers for 20 Lao students currently studying at UD-UED. Becoming members of Vietnamese families, Lao students will often visit their "second" families, especially on holidays. They will have lots of opportunities to learn and experience Vietnamese culture, improve their Vietnamese language when visiting the city's cultural and historical relics and enjoying traditional dishes with family members and participate in cultural, artistic and sports activities organized by the Women's Union at all levels.
