Vietnamese Language and culture Experience Day for international students taking the Vietnamese courses in 2023 at UD-UED

On Novemver 23, The University of Danang - University of Science and Education (UD-UED) organized a language and culture experience day for the international students taking the Vietnamese courses in 2023 at historical sites and traditional craft villages. The activity was enthusiastically welcomed by international students from many countries.
There were nearly 40 international students from many different countries such as the United States, Switzerland, Nigeria, Korea, China, Belgium, United Kingdom..., participating in this activity.

 The first place in this journey is Marble Mountains (Da Nang City). This is one of the destinations loved by domestic and foreign tourists because of its masterpiece of natural landscape and bold cultural, historical and spiritual life. There, international students enjoyed "checking in" at limestone mountains, admiring the mysterious beauty of caves, visiting pagodas and learning about traditional cultural festivals.

Visiting Thanh Ha pottery village helped the international students feel the peaceful beauty of Vietnamese countryside. This is also a destination that the students look forward to visiting because they can interact and talk a lot with people, helping them learn and discover local customs and culture on their own. It is a long-standing traditional pottery-making village with more than 500  years of formation and development. At this place, the international students learned about the traditional pottery-making process and tried making products by themselves.

The final destination in this trip is the world cultural heritage site, My Son Sanctuary (Quang Nam province). This is the most famous architectural complex of the Cham people of Vietnam. The international students were given introduction on My Son Sanctuary, admired the sculptures and experienced the culture of the ancient Champa people through artistic performances such as dancing, trumpet playing...

Throughout the experience day, the international students always had the support and companionship of the lecturers and staff member in charge of international students at the university. The trip also helped them to have an easier access to the reality of the local language and culture. Lising Ethelinda Moreto - an international student from the United States said: "I really enjoyed this field trip because I learned a lot about the culture and monuments of Vietnam. In particular, I like the activity at Thanh Ha pottery village the most because here, we get to experience making pottery, which is very interesting."
The language and culture experience day is part of the Vietnamese Language Program for foreigners at UD-UED. This is the third trip having been organised by the university in 2023.
