The Second Contest "I am a global citizen" 2023 ended with indelible imprints

On the morning of May 7, the University of Danang - University of Science and Education (UD-UED) held the final round of the second contest "I am a global citizen" - 2023.

The contest attracted 52 teams with nearly 200 students from universities in the city. After the Preliminary and Semi-final rounds, the Organizing Committee selected the best 06 teams for the Final round.

Making the opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luu Trang - Head of the Organizing Committee, Rector of UD-UED said: “In the current era, being a global citizen is the dream of the youth and it has gradually become the main trend that families, schools and society are interested in. No longer nestling in the "village pond", or tied to "the village bamboo groves" as before, today's young generation is making breakthroughs in the journey to reach out to the world and boldly set foot on the alien lands. However, becoming a Global Citizen is not easy! It must be a journey that requires the young generation to constantly learn and experience to accumulate knowledge and skills for themselves since they are still in school, especially when they are students.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luu Trang emphasized “Promoting and continuing the success of the first contest "I am a global citizen ", taking place in 2021, the second contest aims to create a forum to promote the knowledge on international issues; generate ideas for innovation, creativity and international integration and enhance knowledge and foreign language skills, necessary for students to become global citizens in the future.”

In the Final Round, the teams went through 3 parts. Specifically, in the part "I know the world", the Organizing Committee gave 10 multiple choice questions, the teams gave the answers by holding up the board. The content of the questions revolved around the knowledge of international relations and international relations of Vietnam from 1945 to the present.

In the part "I integrate with the world", the teams showed their integration through art performances.

In the part "I change the world" contest, the team representatives drew and spoke about current global issues. 02 teams would argue with each other in pairs about an idea prepared by the Organizing Committee. There were 2 lots on “Agree” and “Criticize” for the proposed idea. The team drawing the lot would have to give arguments to defend their opinions against the other team.

Dolphin from UD-UED won the first prize

As a result, Dolphin from UD-UED won the first prize; SLT from the University of Foreign Languages Studies won the second prize; Bees from UD-UED won the third prize. The remaining 3 teams: Apollo, Warsaw Pact, Dai The Chi (from UD-UED) received the Consolation prizes.

The contest “I am a global citizen” aims to prepare students with necessary knowledge and skills to become global citizens in the future.
