THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON “HIGHER EDUCATION IN VIETNAM AND ASIAN COUNTRIES: SIMILARITIES AND POSSIBILITIES OF COOPERATION”
On the morning of November 28, 2020, The University of Danang - University of Science and Education organized the international conference on: “Higher education in Vietnam and Asian countries: similarities and possibilities of cooperation”. The conference created an international forum for educational institutions and organizations, experts and scientists to publish new research results, promote academic exchanges, seek opportunities for cooperation, find out solutions to the current situations and provide orientations to develop higher education in Vietnam and Asia currently.
Attending the conference, there was one representative of the Ministry of Education and Training, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Luu Bich Ngoc - Chief of the Office of the National Council of Education and Human Resource Development. There were also participants from higher education institutions, including: Assoc.Prof.Dr. Mai Van Hung - Director of Center for Anthropology and Mind Development at Hanoi University of Education - VNU; Assoc.Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Ha - National Economics University; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Van Hien - Former Rector of University of Sciences - Hue University; Dr. Bui Thi Kim Hue - Deputy Head of Department of Science and International Cooperation, Dong A University. From the University of Danang (UD), there was the participation of Assoc.Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son - Vice President of UD, Director of UD Campus in Kon Tum and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Le Hung, Head of Science, Technology and Environment Department, UD. From the side of The University of Danang - University of Science and Education, there was Assoc.Prof. Dr. Luu Trang- Rector, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, deans of the Faculties and lecturers. Moreover, the conference welcomed lots of scientists, lecturers, and managers from all parts of the country.

The conference was organized to create a forum towards the following topics: (1)Achievements and obstacles to the innovation in higher education in Vietnam and Asia; (2) comparison between higher education in Vietnam and that in Asia; (3) Policies, governance and accessibility of higher education in Vietnam and Asia; (4) Assessment, accreditation and ranking of higher education in Vietnam and Asia; (5) International cooperation on higher education in Vietnam and Asia.

Making a speech at the opening of the Conference, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Luu Trang, Rector of the University expressed the gratitude to all the participants including the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training, higher education institutions, scientists for their participation and contribution to the conference on “Higher education in Vietnam and Asian countries: similarities and possibilities of cooperation”. The Rector said: “So far, higher education in Vietnam and Asia has also been looking for answers to issues such as: (1) obstacles to the development of higher education in Vietnam and Asia; (2) the trends for the higher education in Vietnam and Asia; (3) Solutions to the development of higher education in Vietnam and Asia”. Besides, to be an effective strategy for socio-economic development, higher education needs to perform more the role of creating new knowledge, acquiring and applying the trends in technology, as well as training intelligent human resources through teaching, scientific research and international cooperation ...
Dr. Ha Van Hoang, representing the group of authors, made a presentation on “Indicators of higher education accessibility in Viet Nam and countries of the ASEAN + 3 region”
MSc. Tran Thi Nga made a presentation on “Governance Reform in Asian Higher Education: Current Trends and Implications for Higher Education Reform”
The conference received the attention of a large number of domestic and foreign scientists, lecturers, managers from research institutes, universities, central and local departments and branches with more than one hundred of articles, of which 39 articles were selected for the presentation at the conference. Especially, there were 02 excellent articles selected for the keynote session including: Indicators of Higher education accessibility in Viet Nam and countries of the ASEAN + 3 region (by the authors: Dr. Ha Van Hoang, Prof. Dr. Fursova Valentina Vladimirovna, Doan Van Loc); Governance Reform in Asian Higher Education: Current Trends and Implications for Higher Education Reform (MSc. Tran Thi Nga).Then, at other sessions, the presentations of domestic and foreign researchers focused on theoretical issues such as: Vietnamese and Asian higher education policy; educational practices in Vietnam and Asia; solutions to develop education in Vietnam and Asia. The studies gave evidence on the current situation, development trends and directions for the development of education in Vietnam and Asia. It can be affirmed that the interest and contribution of the author through the articles has brought richness and valuable suggestions to the conference.

The international conference on “Higher education in Vietnam and Asian countries: similarities and possibilities of cooperation” ended after a time period of the active and hard work of the researchers, scientists ... The conference brought lots of perspectives, directions, suggestions as well as exchanges of new researches on Vietnamese and Asian higher education.
